About Taylor Sowell, MSW, LSW, CDCA
Meet Taylor Sowell — therapist, MSW, LSW, CDCA
My name is Taylor Sowell and I am a dual-licensed LSW and CDCA. I have a Master of Social Work from Akron University. I have experience in counseling men, women, and adolescents for both addiction and trauma recovery services.
My approach to therapy is an innovative blend of both Solution-Focused and Depth Psychology — meaning you bring your struggles, and I'll bring a 'you-centered' perspective that validates, educates, and gives clarity on options that can help you move forward. I am down-to-earth, and will structure our sessions towards who you are, where you are in your journey, and what feels comfortable to start with. In addition to working with a variety of people with different mental health or addiction concerns, I also enjoy offering informative demonstrations through group services as I believe that shared experiences can foster normalization, improve empathy, accelerate recovery, and offer a unique experience. I look forward to supporting you in your growth!
I also integrate Christian and biblical principles into my counseling for clients who find meaning and strength in their faith. This is always optional — you lead, and I follow your comfort level.
You don't have to have it figured out to begin. You just have to show up.

Finding the right fit for where you are
Individual Therapy
One-on-one sessions tailored to your story. Whether you're working through anxiety, life transitions, relationship patterns, or something you've never said out loud — this is a space built entirely around you. Using a blend of Solution-Focused and Depth Psychology approaches, we'll work at your pace to understand what's underneath and find a path forward that actually fits your life.
Addiction Recovery
Recovery isn't linear, and it doesn't look the same for everyone. I offer compassionate, evidence-informed support for those navigating substance use and the patterns underneath it. We'll look beyond the behavior itself to understand what's driving it — and build a recovery that's honest, sustainable, and shaped around who you are, not a one-size-fits-all program.
Trauma Recovery
Trauma shapes how we see ourselves and the world — sometimes in ways we don't even recognize yet. Together, we'll work at your pace to process what happened, make sense of how it's showing up in your life today, and build a path forward that isn't defined by it. You don't have to have the words for it yet. We'll find them together.
Group Services
Shared experiences can be profoundly healing. Group sessions offer a space to normalize what you're going through, connect with others who genuinely understand, and grow alongside people who are doing the same hard work. I believe that hearing your story reflected back — and hearing others' — can accelerate recovery, build empathy, and remind you that you're not as alone as it feels.
Children & Adolescent Therapy
One of my greatest strengths is getting difficult cases to engage honestly with treatment — and bridging the gap between parent and child to strengthen how the whole family functions together. I work with kids and teens to address problem behaviors while also giving them a safe, judgment-free space to talk about what's really going on. My goal is to make therapy feel natural and even enjoyable, so it becomes a healthy outlet they actually want to keep in their lives — whether they're the quiet kid carrying everything alone or the one whose frustration comes out loud.
Couples Counseling
In couples work, my role is to make sure both voices are truly heard — not just spoken. I keep the scales balanced so each person has the space to process what they're carrying, and I help bridge the gap when emotions run high. Whether one partner needs more room to open up or another needs help softening how they express themselves, I can hold both at the same time. You don't have to find the perfect words on your own — that's what a neutral, accountable space is for. Together, we work through what's built up and move toward something better.
